We often bake cakes and restrict ourselves to one piece or a bite instead. Is it fair? Naaaaah …..Its not fair to keep yourself away from such delicious desirable treats. To eat guilt-free I made it little bit healthy though I used butter , I changed refined flour with a healthier option whole wheat flour. This cake contains more fibre and tastes exact the same. I used 70 percent cocoa contained dark chocolate which is also a healthier option . I am confident you guys will love this recipe ……and will not hesitate eating the bakes from now on . Next time I will bake I will try and improvise more healthier options. Promise.
Ingredients : 1 cup whole wheat flour, 1 teaspoon baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon baking soda, 3 eggs, 1 cup grated dark chocolate (containing 70 percent cocoa), 100 gm butter, 1 cup brown sugar , 1 teaspoon vanilla extract. Whipped cream and dark chocolate syrup for icing (Optional ).
Serving: 2 Pound cake , 8 large pieces.
Method : Just do the usual mix butter and sugar , whip it till it is light and soft, add eggs vanilla extract and whip it until volume doubles, melt the grated chocolate and add in the sugar egg butter mixture to cut and fold. Mix in flour +baking powder+ baking soda mixture and gently cut and fold. Preheat the oven at 170 degrees centigrade and bake it for 25 to 30 minutes. Once done cool it and de-mould it. Mix whipping cream and dark chocolate syrup mixture and use this as a icing for the cake. Sprinkle some grated dark chocolate on top and enjoy this healthier version of chocolate cake.
PS : I have added whipped cream as a optional ingredient. You may prefer eating this without it. I couldn’t stop myself to add on a little more fat its sheer personal choice. 🙂
